PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
We are seeking an experienced Product Development Specialist to collaborate closely with our team on an ongoing basis.
This role focuses on supporting the development of new furniture and lighting products while helping build and manage a network of high-quality manufacturing partners across Europe.
You will work closely with Lemon’s internal design team to bring products from concept through to production while helping establish long-term relationships with specialist manufacturers.
WHAT WE'RE REALLY LOOKING FOR
-We are looking for someone with hands-on experience developing furniture and lighting with European manufacturers.
You should already have relationships with factories or specialist workshops capable of producing luxury-quality products, particularly within manufacturing ecosystems such as Portugal, Italy, or the United Kingdom.
This role is best suited to someone who has worked closely with manufacturers and understands the practical realities of prototyping, materials, production processes, and factory collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Development
- Support the development of new furniture and lighting pieces from concept through to production
- Collaborate closely with Lemon’s internal design team
- Coordinate prototyping and sampling with manufacturing partners
Manufacturing Network
- Introduce and develop relationships with high-quality factories and workshops
- Focus on manufacturers across Portugal, Italy, and the United Kingdom
- Identify specialist suppliers for upholstery, wood, metal, stone, and lighting components
Factory Coordination
- Manage communication with manufacturing partners during development
- Oversee sampling and prototyping stages
- Support early-stage production planning
Quality & Materials
- Ensure products meet luxury-level quality standards
- Advise on materials, finishes, and construction techniques
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years experience in furniture or lighting product development
- Experience working with European manufacturing partners
- Existing relationships with factories in Portugal, Italy, or the UK
- Experience bringing furniture products from concept through production
IDEAL BACKGROUND
Experience within the luxury furniture or architectural lighting sector, either at a premium brand, design studio, or manufacturer supporting high-end furniture companies.
COLLABORATION
This role is structured as a long-term independent collaboration working closely with the Lemon team on product development and manufacturing partnerships.
