Inspired by his fascination with the atmospheric interiors found in film and literature, Yaniv Chen seeks to distill the emotional character of a room into objects. Reflecting on his early influences, he recalls the world of Jeeves & Wooster and its opulent interpretation of the 1920s—spaces layered with paintwork and linear brass set against more subtly gestured environments. It was here that Chen first encountered the quiet theatricality of Art Deco interiors.
With the Various Positions Wall Server, he reinterprets this language through a more restrained lens. Suspended almost architecturally, with softened corners and rhythmic brass detailing, the piece recalls the glamour of Deco while introducing a sense of lightness and modernity. The piece frames objects and artwork almost ceremonially, becoming part furniture, part scenography.
